The Bald Soprano
Eugene Ionesco’s The Bald Soprano is a classic of absurd theatre. The play depicts the emptiness of petty, English bourgeois life, where human interaction consists of idle phrases. The visuals of the play toyed with, among other things, the duplicity characteristics of the hosting couple. The costume design was technically rather challenging, requiring development of hidden water- and coldproof undergarments due to extensive use of ice and water on stage and considering the requirements of fire safety on all costume choices.
